Mandalika MotoGP Will Bring Benefits for MSMEs: Tourism Minister
The 2022 Indonesia MotoGP will bring benefits for economic recovery, especially in boosting economic growth for micro, small and medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Mandalika area, according to Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno.
“MotoGP is enormously beneficial for the economy of the local communities, especially MSMEs,” Sandiaga said, Tuesday (01/11).
According to him, MSMEs will enjoy benefits because the international racing event is projected to attract thousands of domestic and international spectators.
“We continue to make preparation for the 2022 Indonesia MotoGP so it can run smoothly in March. Of the nine main issues, there has been significant progress and President Joko Widodo will directly review the preparation,” he said.
Regarding MSMEs, Sandiaga underscored that his Ministry joins hands with Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, as well as other stakeholders to provide support for tourism sector in promotional events.
“Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will handle the digital aspect and promotion, while Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs will handle the facilities, assisted by [central bank] Bank Indonesia. We will facilitate MSMEs in West Nusa Tenggara, MSMEs in five super priority destinations and MSMEs in other areas across Indonesia,” the Minister said.
For the record, the Indonesia Grand Prix at Mandalika Circuit is due to take place in March with an official MotoGP test session slated to be held at the circuit in February. (PR of Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/UN) (RI/EP)
