The Government has announced that wage subsidy assistance for workers or laborers channeled through the State-Owned Banks Association (Himbara) is not subject to any deductions, including administrative fees, according to Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah.

“Each beneficiary can withdraw the wage subsidy assistance worth Rp1 million,” Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah said on Monday (27/9), as quoted from the Ministry’s website.

According to the Minister, the distribution of wage subsidy assistance in batch V has been started with a total of 7,748,630 prospective recipients based on data from the Workers Social Security Agency (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan).

Ida went on to say that after the data matching process, the assistance has been distributed to 4,911,200 beneficiaries.

“We ensure that the wage subsidy assistance recipients are not included in other assistance programs so that the Government’s aid programs will have even distribution,” Ida said, adding that the wage assistance is expected to help workers or laborers affected by the pandemic, especially during Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM).

“We hope all of these programs will be completed in October 2021,” she said.

Previously, during her working visit to North Sulawesi, the Minister also met with Diana Spencer, one of several workers or laborers who received the wage assistance. Diana expressed her happiness and appreciation to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo for the assistance program.

“This assistance means a lot to me and my family since our income has been unstable for some time, and with this assistance our daily needs can be fulfilled,” Diana said. (PR of Ministry of Manpower/UN)(RIF/LW)
