May This Pandemic Be Endemic Soon, President Jokowi Says

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Sunday (04/10) extended greetings on the Nyepi Day (Hindus’ Day of Silence) commemoration and the 1944 Saka New Year to all Indonesian Hindus.

On that occasion, President Jokowi said that this year’s Nyepi Day is a special momentum for Indonesian Hindus to strengthen Sradha (faith) and Bhakti (worship), belief, and piety to the Almighty God, to remind on the importance of maintaining balance with nature and environment, to be a chance to sharpen humanity’s soul, to build solidarity and harmony with others, to be a chance to do self-introspection, to make improvement, and to strengthen the weakness.

The President also called on Indonesian Hindus to strengthen the actualization of Tat Twam Asi value in realizing live in harmony, he continued, the value not only urges people to serve humanity, but also preserve, respect the universe.

[The value] also encourages people’s concern on nature and environment by preserving land, water, and air so that it will sustain to become sources of all life,” President added.

The Head of State further said that Indonesia is a country with lots of mineral resources. To that end, he called on all Indonesian Hindus to rise their awareness to carry out concrete action in protecting the environment as a form of gratitude and piety to the Almighty God.

Furthermore, President Jokowi expressed his gratitude to all Indonesian Hindus for their hard work and contribution in supporting COVID-19 pandemic handling so that Indonesia’s current active case has lowered.

“It is our hope that COVID-19 in our country will as soon as possible shift from pandemic to endemic,” he remarked. (SLN/UN) (AP/HD/LW)
