President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo expressed hope that the super micro business owners that receive loans from Fostering Economy for Prosperous Families (known as Mekaar) program of PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) can develop their businesses into micro-business.

“We hope the super micro business will develop into micro business after received loans from Mekaar program,” said President Jokowi while reviewing the implementation of the Mekaar program, at Gongseng Stadium, Cijantung, East Jakarta, Thursday (10/1).

Therefore, the President reminded, the most important thing is mentoring and self-discipline to pay the installment on time.

“Super micro business is usually a home business which can help giving additional income to the family,” said the President.

President Jokowi continued that Mekaar is a long-term program to help super micro businesses to become micro businesses so that they can receive more capital assistances through KUR (People’s Business Credit). KUR provide loans up to Rp25 million for micro business and Rp25 million – Rp500 million for small business.

“These steps take years to realize. Thus, the Government conducts training to educate the micro business owners to elevate their businesses,” said President Jokowi.

The President went on say that the key to develop business is discipline, in time management, money management as well as in maintaining quality to follow market trend.

Also present at that occasion were, among others, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Social Affairs Agus Gumiwang, Head of Creative Economy Agency Triawan Munaf, Governor of Jakarta Anies Baswedan, Managing Director of PT PNM Arief Mulyadi.
