Minister Affirms Gov’t Commitment to Promote National EV Ecosystem

The Government affirmed its commitment to further promoting transformation of the national vehicle ecosystem based on new and renewable energy.
Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi on Tuesday (07/21) said that the Government’s commitment is reflected through a plan of building national electric motorcycle factory. The plan, he added, is the Government’s strategic measure to strengthen domestic electric motorcycle production and to reduce the country’s reliance on fossil fuel.
According to him, this measure will not only strengthen the national automotive ecosystem but also bring positive impact to the country’s efforts toward energy transition. Therefore, he called on the public to cooperate in realizing Indonesia’s aspiration to develop national electric vehicle industry.
“We still have shortcomings here and there, but we can overcome it together,” he said.
On previous occasion, President Prabowo Subianto stated that plan to launch a nationally manufactured electric motorcycle in the near future is part of the strategy to develop a domestic automotive industry ecosystem. This initiative also showcased the Government’s commitment to enhancing the capabilities Indonesia’s national industry.
“We will have motorcycles made by Indonesians, and we will have cars made by Indonesians,” the President said on Friday (07/17) during his remarks at the simultaneous grand harvest held at Abdulrachman Saleh Air Base in Malang regency, East Java province.
