In order to prevent terrorism acts that happened during the last one week, Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo commanded regional Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) to maintain public order and security, including mosques and churches.

“It is not enough to rely only on the Indonesian National Police (Polri) and National Defense Force (TNI). We also need to involve Satpol PP together with TNI and Polri—to maintain security,” Minister Tjahjo told the reporters after attending the Plenary Cabinet Meeting, at the State Palace, Wednesday (16/5).

Minister Tjahjo also requested to revive the Environmental Security System (Siskamling) and the Religious Forum (Forum Umat Beragama).

“Do not invite religious leaders only at crisis or incident. We need to hold (religious forum) regularly. We have budget for it,” the Minister continued.

Minister of Home Affairs along with Polri have enhanced religious communication forums over the last 1.5 years, which consist of village heads, religious leaders, and traditional leaders.

Minister Tjahjo also instructed the District Heads around Indonesia to coordinate with the Military Rayon Commanders (Danramil), the local Police Chiefs (Kapolsek), and religious leaders to mobilize the community at neighborhood level.

“At least find out simple details in each house, for example the amount of family members and the head of the family,” said Minister Tjahjo. (FID / JAY / ES) (STU/MMB/Naster)
