The implementation of COVID-19 vaccination in mutual cooperation (vaksinasi gotong royong) for workers is a joint effort by the Government and the private sector to reduce the pace of the COVID-19 pandemic while simultaneously driving the national economy, Minister of Trade Muhammad Lutfi has said.

“We are starting this together, working hand in hand between the Government and the private sector to break the chain of COVID-19. Without breaking the chain, economic growth will always be hampered. Therefore, this is the best breakthrough by the Indonesian Government and the private sector in order to drive the nation’s economy,” the Minister said when observing Gotong Royong vaccination program at PT Unilever Indonesia in the Jababeka Industrial Estate, Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, West Java Province, Tuesday (18/05).

It is expected that the industrial sector can operate better, more comfortably and safely after the vaccination of these private workers, especially factory workers.

“I remind you, all Indonesian people, to maintain health protocols even though you have been vaccinated. Because through health protocols can only we break the chain of COVID-19 and drive the economy,” he said.

For the record, the Gotong Royong vaccination program is carried out simultaneously for workers from dozens of companies spread across various locations in the Greater Jakarta.

Spokesperson for COVID-19 Vaccination Reisa Broto Asmoro stated that the vaccination is given to workers or families and individuals, the cost of which is borne by legal entities or business entities.

“The recipients of Gotong Royong vaccination under this scheme will receive it for free,” Reisa said.

She added that the vaccination is an effort of the private sector spearheaded by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), in collaboration with the Government, especially Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, Ministry of Trade, and Ministry of Health, to contribute to the success and acceleration of COVID-19 vaccination.

“Through this Gotong Royong vaccination program, it is estimated that tens of millions of workers registered by the companies will receive the vaccine in the near future,” she said. (FID/UN) (FI/MMB)
