Minister Reaffirms Commitment to Land Certification, Agrarian Reforms

Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (BPN) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to implementing priority programs before the end of administration of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin.

“We are preparing a smooth government transition that will become a foundation so that we can speed up our endeavor to achieve well-targeted progress and ensure that Indonesia’s economy take off. That is the message delivered by the President,” Agus said after attending the Plenary Cabinet Meeting chaired by President Jokowi at the Garuda Palace, Nusantara, East Kalimantan province, Friday (09/13).

According to Agus, the cabinet meeting focused on President Jokowi’s order to Ministries and Agencies to complete their respective targets before the transition period to the new Government begins.

Agus said that one of the main programs of the Ministry of ATR/BPN is the Complete Systematic Land Registration (PTSL). As of today, more than 117 million parcels of land have been registered, out of the 120 million targets by the end of this year.

In addition to the PTSL, the Ministry of ATR/BPN also focused on the agrarian reform programs that involves asset management and access for communities to improve their welfare.

“Our target consists of asset management, access management, and improvement of community’s economy through various programs related to the agrarian reforms. We will monitor the implementation of the programs,” Agus said.

Regarding land fraud, Agus stated that the Ministry will continue the endeavor to eradicate land mafia practices and fight for vulnerable people in defending their rights. Agus also highlighted the importance of ensuring legal certainty for investors who aim to invest in Indonesia.

Closing his statement, the Minister expressed hope that the transition of Government to President-elect Prabowo Subianto will run smoothly and various programs that have been running well during President Jokowi’s leadership can be continued.

“The President-elect, Mr Prabowo Subianto, will continue the achievement and accomplishment of the previous administration to make progress in the future, in terms of economic growth, political stability, and other things,” the Minister remarked. (ECH/DNS) (RI/MUR)
