Minister: State Apparatus’ Transfer of Position Aims to Improve Public Services

State apparatus’ transfer of position from structural positions to functional positions is aimed at improving public services, according to Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reforms Tjahjo Kumolo.

The Minister further said that transfer of position will also create a more dynamic and professional bureaucracy and improve effectiveness and efficiency of public services.

“President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo hopes for a smart and simple governance structure that can cut bureaucracy to speed up services to the public. For that reason, transfer of position is one of the Government’s efforts to materialize the President’s order,” he said on Thursday (28/1).

He went on to say that bureaucratic simplification through transfer of position must take into account types and numbers of positions at government institutions, ministries, agencies, and regional governments.

Functional positions which is agile, independent, and has flexible working arrangement is expected to adapt to the changes in digitalization age. In that regard, Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reforms encouraged the utilization of resources and inter-institutional collaboration so that functional positions can address current challenges.

In addition, the Minister called on functional officers to adapt to changing circumstances, to provide excellent, fast, and save services to comply with the needs of service users.
