Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno has urged tourism and creative economy industry players to take make the most of this year’s Eid to boost sales and to provide the best services for tourists to create a safe, comfortable, and pleasant experience during the holiday.

With the annual Eid exodus this year predicted to attract 123.8 million people, Sandi said that the 25% tourist movement target – or 300-350 million tourist movements – can be achieved.

“The economic turnover [during Eid holiday] is targeted to reach Rp100-150 trillion,” he said during the Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno uploaded on the Ministry’s YouTube channel.

The Minister specifically highlighted the entrance fee increase on tourist attractions that often occur during Eid holiday, adding that the increase should be discussed with the local governments and local tourism associations to set a standard price that matches the quality and services provided.

“The information on price increase should also be disseminated,” he added.

“We should not increase the fees that will burden the people, but we instead must focus mainly on improving the quality and services at tourist attractions. We also need to consider the fact that the people may save money to return to their hometowns and visit tourist attractions with their families. They want affordable prices,” he said.

Sandi also urged tourism and creative economy industry players to brace for a surge in visitors predicted to occur at various national tourist attractions during this year’s Eid holiday. (AN/SOY/UN) (AY/EP)
