The Government has announced it will provide an additional quota for cash social assistance recipients of around 20,000 beneficiary families for regions with high absorption.

“We’ve decided to open a new cash social assistance quota of 20,000 beneficiary families. I order regency / city governments to submit the data immediately,” Minister of Social Affairs Juliari P Batubara said Monday (23/11).

The replenishment of new quota, he added, is made on the grounds that the budget is still available and many people affected by the pandemic still have yet to receive the assistance.

“During a meeting with regional heads, they have submitted additional requests for cash social assistance to Ministry of Social Affairs because members of their communities have not received the assistance,” he said.

In this regard, he pointed out that in principle the Ministry is ready to support the request for additional new quota, adding that the quota will be prioritized to regions with high distribution such as in Pemalang regency in Central Java province and Simalungun regency in North Sumatra province.

“The state must be present to ensure those who are experiencing difficulties due to the pandemic. We are waiting for data on assistance recipients from the regions. I hope they can submit the data immediately,” he said, adding that distributing the assistance to the communities affected by the pandemic is no easy task due to different speed in absorbing the allocated assistance.
