MoH Approves Large-Scale Social Restrictions in Jakarta

Minister of Health Terawan Agus Putranto has approved the implementation of Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) in Jakarta.

The decision was made with the issuance of Minister of Health Decision Number HK.01.07/Menkes/239/2020 on 7 April 2020.

The implementation of PSBB in Jakarta is expected to accelerate the handling of COVID-19.

The Minister stated that Jakarta experienced significant increases and rapid spread of COVID-19 cases.

For the record, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has proposed the implementation of PSBB on 1 April 2020.

The approval was made after an epidemiological study and consideration of the preparedness of Jakarta in social, economic, and other aspects.

After the decision, Jakarta Provincial Government is obliged to implement the PSBB and consistently encourage and disseminate clean and healthy lifestyles to its people.

The PSBB will be carried out for a length of the virus incubation period and can be extended with evidence of the spread. (PR of Ministry of Health/EN)
