President Jokowi bikes with London Mayor and Jakarta Governor in Thamrin area, Jakarta on Sunday

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Sunday morning (30/11) biked with London Mayor Boris Johnson and Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok. The President arrived at Hotel Indonesia Traffic Circle (Bundaran HI) Jakarta at around 06:55 Western Indonesian Time (WIB), accompanied by some of Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres) who also rode bikes.

 “London Mayor visits here among others to discuss infrastructure cooperation,” President Jokowi said on the stage of HI traffic Circle.

According to Jokowi, the plan of Mayor Johnson’s visit had been submitted through a letter last year. The President hoped that the Mayor’s visit to Jakarta brought great benefits for exchanging experience of both cities.

Mayor Johnson expressed his happiness that he could visit Jakarta and hoped that he could exchange experience with DKI Governor regarding the city and big event managements.

 “I am very enthusiastic, also by seeing infrastructure development in Jakarta including the commencement of MRT construction,” Johnson said.

He was ready to exchange experience with DKI Governor including the management of holding big scale sport event, in which London had been the host of Summer Olympiad in 2012 while Jakarta would be the host of Asian Games in 2018.

After press conference at around 07:05 WIB, Jokowi, Ahok, and London Mayor exercised together by riding bikes. Behind Jokowi’s entourage, hundreds of people also rode their bikes following the route of the President.

After encircling Bundaran HI, Jokowi, Ahok and London Mayor moved towards to Presidential Palace.  (*/ANT/ES)
