President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo appreciated Pemuda Muhammadiyah, the youth wing of Muslim organization Muhammadiyah, for pioneering preaching in the economic sector.

Through the preaching, young entrepreneurs in Muhammadiyah organization are united to develop businesses that will encourage new entrepreneurs.

“There is a movement of progressive entrepreneurs who synergize all young entrepreneurs in Muhammadiyah, develop businesses, and encourage new entrepreneurs. We need more young entrepreneurs to anticipate demographic bonus in 2030,” the President said when virtually opened the National Executive Meeting (Tanwir), on Friday (2/4).

Based on the data, there are around 2.9 million more young people entering the job market each year. Therefore, the need to create new jobs is pivotal and the young entrepreneurs play a role in realizing it.

The Government will continue to support the emerge of new entrepreneurs by undertaking massive reforms on business ecosystem, simplifying regulations that hamper Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises’ (MSMEs) development, and expanding access to business capital.

“Vocational education and trainings should be more adaptive to the needs of the industry. We must also carry out asset redistribution and agrarian reforms to bring economic equity and fairness,” he said.

On that occasion, President Jokowi expressed hope that the members of Pemuda Muhammadiyah continue to promote the culture of entrepreneurship and to collaborate with the youth in their cultural preaching and to spread the values of helping each other in the lives of the nation.

“The values of tolerance, interfaith unity, Islam wasathiyah (moderate Islam) must always be the foundation of such preaching in the economic sector. I hope Pemuda Muhammadiyah can become the safeguard in protecting and strengthening tolerance and unity in diversity according to our state ideology Pancasila,” he said.

For the record, the meeting adopting a theme “Collaborative Preaching to Advance the Nation” was held in Manado, North Sulawesi and considered as the second largest meeting organized by a wing of Muhammadiyah. (BPMI/UN) (RAS/MMB)
