President Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurates the National Energy Council comprising members of stakeholder and government representatives at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (01/28)

President Prabowo Subianto on Wednesday (01/28) officially inaugurated the National Energy Council comprising members of stakeholder and government representatives, at the State Palace in Jakarta. The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia, who also serves as the Daily Chair of the National Energy Council, stated the inauguration marks a new era in Indonesia’s energy management.

“We all know that one of President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programs concerns energy sovereignty, energy security, and energy self-sufficiency. One of the government’s key instruments is a roadmap developed together with the National Energy Council (DEN),” the Daily Chair of the National Energy said.

Bahlil Lahadalia emphasized that the President’s focus on the energy sector remains strong and consistent, aligning with the Red and White Cabinet’s Asta Cita (eight aspirations), particularly on energy and food security.

“This demonstrates the President’s commitment to prioritizing energy as a development priority. On numerous occasions, the President has consistently addressed energy and food security, as stated in the second point of Asta Cita,” he remarked.

Furthermore, Bahlil Lahadalia stated that the National Energy Council will soon hold its initial meeting and report to the President to conduct the first session. According to him, the President’s main focus will be ensuring energy sovereignty without external intervention and strengthening energy security.

“The next step is energy independence. We know that today we still import approximately 30 million kiloliters of fuel, including diesel and gasoline. The fourth step is self-sufficiency. We will certainly implement this in stages with self-sufficiency as the ultimate goal,” he concluded.

The inauguration of the National Energy Council is expected to strengthen national energy governance, consolidate cross-sectoral policies, ensure energy supply continuity, and accelerate the transformation toward an energy system that is independent, sustainable, and in the interest of the people.
