New Agrarian Minister Unveils Target, Challenges in Tackling Agrarian, Spatial Planning Issues

Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency Hadi Tjahjanto on Cabinet Secretariat Podcast (07/03).

The fifth episode of Cabinet Secretariat Podcast (Podkabs), which was aired on Sunday (07/03), featured newly-inaugurated Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (BPN) Hadi Tjahjanto as a guest star.

To the podcast, the Minister revealed target, challenges, as well as strategies in minimizing problems in the agrarian and spatial planning sectors.

Under the leadership of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, Hadi said the Ministry would be focused on resolving three main issues as follows:

First, the Comprehensive Systematic Registration Program (PTSL) is targeted to distribute 126 million certificates for the people, with the realization already reaching 80 million certificates as of today.

Second, all agrarian conflicts in Indonesia must come to an end.

Third, issues on spatial planning in the New Capital of Nusantara (IKN) must be resolved.

On that occasion, Hadi also underscored that he used approaching strategies like military management including detection, identification, and execution to solve land issues, while also stressing the importance of social communication in solving agrarian issues including through dialog with the locals.

Since his inauguration as Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the BPN, Hadi told the podcaster that he has carried out inspection on the ground several times to directly monitor and solve the issues, adding that he always reminds all his ranks at the regional level to make the PTSL program a success.

Hadi also encouraged all his ranks at the ministry to boost the implementation of electronic system, especially for land certificate, considering it is important as proof of land ownership, adding that he will not hesitate to take legal action against land mafias.

The new Minister also expressed optimism to fulfill the commitment to meet the target set by the President. (MAY/DND/TGH/UN) (AP/EP)
