New ambassadors of friendly countries have expressed optimism about beginning their diplomatic duties in Indonesia.

During the ceremony for the submission of letters of credence to President Prabowo Subianto at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday (06/09), these ambassadors shared their views on potential cooperation they hope to develop with Indonesia in the future.

According to Ambassador of the Republic of Panama to Indonesia Bernardo Brea Rodriguez, his experience in Indonesia has left a positive impression.

“I want to say thank you to all the people of Indonesia because the only thing that I received [since] my arrival is warmth, kindness, and hospitality,” he said while expressing hope that Indonesia and Panama can build a stronger partnership, particularly in maritime, logistics, and transportation sectors, given the two countries’ strategic geographical positions.

“We want to make our best efforts to build a new bridge [toward] cooperation in the maritime environment, logistics, and transportation. We have to get the advantage of our geographic position, and I know, I am very sure that we can be in a very good and strong partnership,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, Ambassador of the Republic of Portugal to Indonesia Maria Gabriela Vieira Soares de Albergaria stated that her posting in Indonesia holds deep personal meaning, adding that it made her feel as if she were coming home.

According to Maria, Indonesia and Portugal have a long-standing relationship that spans over five centuries. Thus, she expressed her commitment to strengthening the two countries’ relations, aiming at addressing future global challenges.

“My mission is to reinforce the ties we have for more than five centuries in order to contribute to a better world, to [overcoming] international problems, the things we have to tackle together,” she said.

Echoing a similar sentiment, Ambassador of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Hong Kwang Il also expressed his goal of strengthening bilateral ties, noting that this year is a milestone as it marks 62 years of Indonesia–DPRK relations.

Hong Kwang Il also reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening relations between the DPRK and Indonesia, which have been built on mutual respect and an ever-evolving partnership.

“As Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to the Republic of Indonesia, I will strive to enhance and broaden the friendly relations and cooperation between our two countries,” he said in fluent Bahasa Indonesia.

Similarly, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Indonesia Redouane Houssaini pointed out that Morocco and Indonesia have a great opportunity to diversify their partnership in multiple strategic sectors, including trade, investment, renewable energy, food security, and cultural exchanges between young generations.

The Moroccan Ambassador further stated that the two countries hold strategic positions in their respective regions, serving as hubs connecting many parts of the world.

“We are now bridging [not only] those continents but also markets and civilizations. This is very important. We share the values of tolerance, open Islam, and I think that Indonesia and Morocco are models in this field,” he said.

The ambassadors’ submission of letters of credence marks a new chapter in Indonesia’s diplomatic relations with friendly countries. With the spirit of collaboration, mutual respect, and shared vision to tackle global challenges, Indonesia has continued to secure its position as a strategic partner on the international stage.  (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (DH/AW)
