New Athletes Ready for Debut in 19th Asian Games
Indonesian athletes who will compete in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China expressed their pride and readiness to achieve the best for Indonesia.
After attending the send-off ceremony chaired by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo in the courtyard of the Merdeka Palace on Tuesday (09/19), the athletes expressed their hope.
“I feel really proud because this is the highest event in Asia after the Olympics. I hope that we can achieve the best for our nation and defend the Red and White flag on the event,” said Reza Oktavia, an archery athlete who will be competing for the first time at the Asian Games.
In the meantime, Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi, a rock climbing athlete who will also make her debut, expressed her gratitude for the President and asked for the support of the Indonesian people so that she could achieve the best for Indonesia.
A Badminton athlete, Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, will also take part in the Asian Games for the first time. He said that he felt honored to be greeted directly by President Jokowi, and expressed hope that he would achieve the best results.
Apart from traditional sports, Indonesia will also participate in e-sports, including Mobile PUBG. Alan Raynold Kumaseh, an Indonesian PUBG Mobile athlete who will take part in the Asian Games for the first time, said that he had prepared for the event by practicing matches against players from other countries.
He also asked for the support from the Indonesian people so that the Indonesian e-sports team could win medals.
