President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo accompanied by several Ministers of Indonesia Onward Cabinet, pays attention to the Contestant Presentation of New Capital Design Competition held by Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), at Presidential Office, Jakarta, Friday (20/12).

Contestants of New Capital Design Competition on Friday (20/12) at Presidential Office, Jakarta, delivered their presentations of the new capital designs before President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and a number of Ministers.

On that occasion, President Jokowi congratulated finalists who made it to the final stage from a total of 755 participants.

“It is a great achievement to break into the final stage of the selection process,” the President said.

The President added that relocating the capital also means relocating all systems, including its work culture. “We expect to have a visionary concept of the new capital,” he said.

For the record, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo in August this year announced that the two regencies in East Kalimantan are to be the site of Indonesia’s new capital city. The new capital will be built in part of North Penajam Paser regency and part of Kutai Kertanegara regency in East Kalimantan province.

The President expressed belief that once the winners visit the site, it will be easier for them to improve their designs.

“The new capital should be developed into a smart and zero-emission city which upholds humanism. We also would like to build various clusters, including Government cluster, education cluster, public health clusters, research and innovation clusters, and financial center clusters, so there will be an economic transformation in the country,” the President added.
