The Tugu Dam and Gongseng Dam, inaugurated by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Tuesday (30/11), are expected to benefit the people, especially farmers, in the surrounding areas.

“I would like to thank the President for the dam in our village. The communities have eagerly awaited the dam because it is expected to support flood control in Trenggalek, and I hope that in the future I can harvest three times,” a local farmer named Sutrisno told President Jokowi.

Ainur Rofiq, another farmer, expressed hope that the two dams can improve the welfare of the people in Trenggalek Regency through the tourism sector.

“(I hope that the dams) will improve the community’s economy through tourism, because with the dam, people have new tourist attraction. I thank the President for “the gift” given to our people,” he said. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (RI/LW)
