New House Members Inaugurated
President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla on Tuesday (1/10) in Senayan, Central Jakarta attended the inauguration of the newly-elected members of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) for the 2019-2024 period.
The oath taking of the newly-elected members were led by Ad Interim Speaker of the DPR Abdul Wahab Dalimunthe and Hillary Brigitta Lasut and guided by the Supreme Court Chief Justice Muhammad Hatta Ali.
The oath is as follows:
“I do solemnly swear by Allah (God) that I will do my best to fulfill my obligations as Member of the House of Representatives to the best of my ability and with fairness in accordance with the laws and regulations and firmly uphold Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution.
That in carrying out the obligations, I will work earnestly for the sake of establishing a democratic life, and prioritizing national interests rather than personal, individual and group interests.
That I will strive hard for the aspirations of the people I represent to realize national goals for the benefits of the nation and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.”
For the record, there are two former ministers of the Working Cabinet who were inaugurated in the event, namely former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani and former Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna H. Laoly. In addition, former Presidential Spokesperson Johan Budi was also inaugurated.
After attending the inauguration of the House members, President Jokowi and Vice President Jusuf Kalla also attended the inauguration of members of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) and the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) for the 2019-2024 period. (MAY/RSF/OJI/ES)
