New National Police (Polri) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has renewed commitment to demonstrating a firm yet humanist police institution.

“The public wants firm yet humanist National Police, which delivers good and transparent public services, provides fair law enforcement. This is certainly our duty in the future,” the National Police Chief said after being inaugurated, at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (27/01).

This commitment, he added, will be pursued further through a transformation program in four areas and the implementation of action plans in 16 activity programs. Listyo Sigit delivered the program and action plan during a fit and proper test before Commission III of the House of Representatives.

In his statement, the National Police Chief also stated that under his leadership, the National Police will continue to renew law enforcement efforts as part of efforts to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic where public safety is the highest law.

Amid the pandemic, he said, the Police must also be able to help safeguard national economic growth so that all parties can immediately escape the crisis and the economy can rebound. “All of this can be achieved if the stability of social and security services is running safely, smoothly, and well,” he said.

Listyo Sigit also expressed his gratitude for the support given to him. “We thank the communities, veterans, seniors, and of course all members of the National Police wherever they are, for all the support,” he said. (DND/UN) (FI/MUR)
