New Vice Finance Minister Emphasizes Policy Coordination to Drive Growth

President Prabowo Subianto Thursday (02/05) at the State Palace, Jakarta inaugurated Juda Agung as Vice Minister of Finance.

Following the inauguration, Juda shared his reflections on his new role at the Ministry.

According to him, the President underscored the significance of cross-sectoral policy coordination to drive national economic growth.

“Essentially, to drive economic growth and realize government programs, the President emphasized the need for close coordination between monetary and fiscal policies. Equally important are real sector policies to ensure our efforts to strengthen the economy are effective.” Juda told the press after the inauguration.

When asked about the rupiah exchange rate intervention policy, the Vice Minister clarified that Bank Indonesia holds the authority over monetary policies.

“As long as it concerns monetary policy, it falls under the jurisdiction of Bank Indonesia,” he said.

On that occasion, Juda also commended Minister of Finance’s recent efforts to strengthen the integrity of officials and institutional governance.

He also underscored the need for synergy between fiscal and monetary policies, emphasizing the importance of inter-institutional knowledge sharing to enhance the effectiveness of national economic policies.

“Drawing on my extensive experience at Bank Indonesia and within the fiscal authority, this synergy will naturally be stronger. Likewise, Mr. Thomas [the previous Vice Minister of Finance], who previously worked at the fiscal authority and then at the monetary sector, likewise adds [insights]. So, the synergy between the two policies will be more effective than if the policies are handled by their respective authorities,” he said. BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (FI/EP)
