Newly Appointed Police Chief Committed to Promoting Humane Approach to Law Enforcement

The newly appointed National Police Chief General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo has reiterated his commitment to promote a firm and humane approach to law enforcement.

“The public expects the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to use a firm and humane approach, to provide good public services with accountability, and to maintain fair law enforcement. This is our task in the future,” Listyo said after his inauguration at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (27/01).

He added that the commitment will be followed up by carrying out a transformation program in four sectors and implementing action plans in 16 activity programs. Listyo said that he has presented the program and action plans during the fit and proper test before Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR).

Listyo also said that under his leadership the National Police will continue to carry out law enforcement as part of efforts to overcome COVID-19 pandemic.

He went on to say that in facing challenges in the midst of pandemic, the Police must also be able to help safeguard national economic growth so that all parties can immediately overcome the crisis, and the economy can grow again.

“Surely all of this can be done if we can maintain the stability and security in the society,” he said. (DND/UN) (RI/LW)
