The newly-appointed Governor of Lampung Arinal Djunaidi has reaffirmed his commitment to accelerate development in the Province.

“I want Lampung to succeed in the future because it has a lot of potentials and is located between the islands of Sumatra and Java, near the capital city (Jakarta), the economic center,” Arinal told reporters after being sworn in by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (12/6).

Lampung, he added, also needs better governance because, despite the fact that it produces many national commodities, the people’s economy is still below the expected standard.

“(I hope that) the agricultural sector in a broad sense, such as the food, plantations, maritime affairs, livestock, and forestry will be in better and functioning conditions,” Arinal said.

Arinal went on to say that he is committed to improving people’s economy by developing infrastructure, including provincial and regional roads. He also expressed hope that the existing toll road will benefit the rural economy.

Lampung, the Governor added, has big natural potentials, including its extraordinary natural attractions such as the 361 varieties of orchids in the National Park area.

“With its extraordinary eco-tourism, this will be a special tourist area,” he stated.

Arinal also stated his expectation on the state budget assistance to improve Lampung infrastructure, tourism, education, and health. (FID/JAY/ES)
