Newly Inaugurated Ambassadors Express Their Admiration for Indonesia

Twelve Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of several friendly countries have presented their letter of credence to President Prabowo Subianto, officially marking the commencement of their duties as diplomatic representative in Indonesia.

On a separate occasion, several ambassadors expressed their positive impression on Indonesia and their hopes to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ireland for the Republic of Indonesia, Sharon Ann Lennon, expressed her honor and enthusiasm in commencing her diplomatic assignment in Indonesia. Sharon stated that Indonesia and Ireland share similarities as nations with strong cultural roots and long history of independence.

”I think our literature, our culture, our dance, our music is really appreciated and understood here and across Indonesia. I really want to deepen that and perhaps bring some cultural collaborations between Indonesia artists and Irish artist to the fore in the coming years,” stated Sharon at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on November 7, 2025.

Meanwhile, Ralf Beste, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Federal Republic of German to the Republic of Indonesia, emphasized the importance of gaining a deeper understanding of Indonesia culture as the foundation for strengthening partnership. “I have diligently learned bahasa Indonesia. I have to understand Indonesian people better so we can cooperate well. I want to know every island in Indonesia. Indonesian people are really friendly and Indonesian food are really good,” he stated.

Similarly, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Spain to the Republic of Indonesia, Bernardo de Sicart Escoda, expressed his admiration for the openness and warmth of the Indonesian people. Moreover, Escoda also admitted that he was captivated by Indonesia’s natural beauty and rich cultural diversity.

“What do I like from Indonesia? Mainly the people. They are very close. They are very open and they always try to help you. I like the food as well, and I like the landscape and the different regions and villages that Indonesia has,” stated Escoda.

Through this diplomatic assignment, the ambassadors are determined to strengthen the bonds of friendship and strategic partnership with Indonesia. It is hoped that the enhancement of bilateral cooperation in various sectors will bring tangible benefits to the peoples of both nations.
