Newly-Inaugurated Kretek Bridge Brings Benefits to Local Communities

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Friday (06/02) inaugurated the Kretek 2 Bridge in Bantul regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta province.

“The bridge brings enormous benefits to save time and reduce expense for travelers. Community members expressed their gratitude for the development carried out by the Central Government and the Regional Government,” Topo, Parangtritis Urban Village Head, said.

Topo also expressed his appreciation to all parties who have supported the construction of the bridge so that it can be utilized by the community. Topo also said that the bridge had been long awaited by the community.

In the meantime, Ida, a satay seller in the Southern Cross Road (JJLS) area of Bantul, said that her income has increased due to the new bridge.

“The bridge brings a lot of benefits and opportunity to entrepreneurs doing business there. Thank God the bridge also brings benefits to the residents. Thank you Pak Jokowi,” Ida said.

A resident named Dwi Atmanto said that the bridge also shortens the travel time to Parangtritis and its surrounding areas.

“We used to have longer travel time, namely half an hour. Now, it only takes a quarter hour to access the beaches in the southern areas, including Parangtritis and other beaches,” Dwi said. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (RI/MMB)
