Newly Inaugurated Red-and-White Cabinet Ministers Outline Work Priorities

President Prabowo Subianto, on Thursday (10/1) inaugurated several ministers and vice ministers of the Red-and-White Cabinet at the State Palace, Jakarta. Following the inauguration, several ministers shared their impressions and work priorities as they carry out new mandates in the administration.

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Sugiono expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him by President Prabowo, adding that he would immediately carry out coordination to figure out the agendas and tasks of his ministry.

“I will immediately coordinate with Mr. Pratikno [the former Coordinating Minister] to figure out and discuss the agendas and tasks of the ministry,” he added.

Meanwhile, the newly inaugurated Minister of Foreign Affairs Arrmanatha Nasir highlighted the increasingly complex global dynamics, saying that this situation generates a major challenge for Indonesian diplomacy. However, Indonesia maintains a consistent foreign policy foundation as a guideline in addressing various global developments.

“The current global situation is definitely complex. So, we are facing enormous challenges, yet we are certainly grateful that Indonesia’s foreign policy has always been consistent,” said Arrmanatha.

He emphasized that Indonesia’s independent and active foreign policy remains its cornerstone. In carrying out his new mandate, he will also continue the various diplomatic policies and steps that have been carried out by Sugiono during his tenure as the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

“So, our laws stand as the clear reference for whoever serving as the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Our foreign policy is also clear—independent and active—as the President has often emphasized. So, I am responsible for continuing what Mr. Sugiono has done, as he currently serves as the Coordinating Minister,” he said.

In addition, Minister of Industry Muhammad Sarmuji said that his new mandate requires strong responsibility. He emphasized the importance of the role of the industrial sector as a driving force for the economic growth while expanding employment absorption.

“Therefore, we must identify the problems and then address them one by one. We have to prioritize industries that have great potential to expand employment absorption and to drive our economy,” he said.

The statements of those ministers reflect their starting focus in carrying out their new mandates starting continuing the human and cultural development agenda, maintaining the consistency of the independent and active foreign policy amid global dynamics, to strengthening the role of industry as a driver of economic growth and job creation.
