President Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurated Said Iqbal as Special Advisor to the President for Employment and Workers’ Welfare. In his statement after the inauguration on Monday (6/8) at the State Palace, Jakarta, Said Iqbal stated that he would soon submit a report and share his views on workers’ welfare to the President.

“I will submit several issues later directly to the President through coordination with the Minister of State Secretary,” he said.

There are several issues that will be reported to the President, including the target of economic growth of 8%. He said this growth must be in line with equitable wealth redistribution.

“We believe that growth must be in line with equitable wealth redistribution and equal opportunity where everyone has a chance. It can be simply said that you can be rich, but don’t impoverish us,” he said.

Meanwhile, regarding workers’ welfare, Said Iqbal believes that in the future, workers’ welfare will include job security, income security, and social security. These views, he said, will be conveyed to the President for consideration in policy analysis.

“We will focus on these three things. We will provide suggestions, opinions, and policy analysis to the President regarding workers’ welfare,” he added.

Furthermore, Said Iqbal will also convey his views on workers’ living wages, including regarding migrant workers, who he believes still need protection from the state.

“We will convey these matters to the President in the form of suggestions, opinions, ideas, and policy analysis. I will definitely meet with several ministers to discuss these issues,” he said.

The appointment of Said Iqbal as Special Advisor to the President is expected to further strengthen the commitment of President Prabowo’s administration to fostering harmonious industrial relations, improving workers’ welfare, and ensuring that national economic growth provides broader benefits to all levels of society.
