Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo

Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo has ensured that there is no disruption in governance and public services in the provinces of Papua and West Papua amidst protests in the two provinces in the past few days.

“There will be no problem. Public services will continue to be available,” Tjahjo told reporters in Jakarta, Thursday (29/8).

Nevertheless, the Ministry’s Directorate General for Regional Autonomy continues to monitor the development in the provinces, he said.

“Governors, regents/mayors, and team of the Ministry’s Directorate General for Regional Autonomy will continue to monitor regional governments, as well as governance and public services in the provinces,” he said, adding that he appreciates the people’s aspiration as long as they are delivered in peaceful and appropriate manners.

“We listen to each aspiration as long as it does not deviate from the core of the matters,” the Minister concluded. (Puspen Kemendagri/ES)
