2juliMinister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo has issued letters of notification Number 009/5546/SJ and Number 009/5545/SJ on Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Submitting Application for Official Overseas Travel Permit to all governors and regents/mayors in Indonesia.

The letters regulated that Government Institutions/Officials must give approval or refusal to permit, dispensation, or concession application for official overseas travel submitted by heads of regional governments and state apparatus working for regional governments no later than 10 (ten) days since the application is received.

In order to improve an orderly administration and coordination of Official Overseas Travel for heads and deputy heads of regional governments, speakers and members of Regional Legislative Councils (DPRD), and state apparatus working for regional governments, Government Institutions/Officials, under Article 39 paragraph 5 of Law Number 30 of 2014 on Government Administration, must give approval or refusal to permit, dispensation, or concession application for official overseas travel submitted by the applicant no later than 10 (ten) days since the application is received, unless otherwise specified in the provisions of laws and regulations,” Tjahjo added.

In the event of the permit is submitted less than 10 (ten) days before the departure, it might become an obstacle since administration process at Ministry of State Secretariat, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Diplomatic Security Directorate of Ministry of Foreign Affairs for official travel to countries that do not have diplomatic relations with Indonesia, must be finished in limited time.

“Therefore, permit for official overseas travel of regional governments shall be submitted to Ministry of Home Affairs at least 10 (ten) days before the departure,” the Minister added. (Puspen Kemendagri/ES)
