Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo has issued letters of notification Number 009/5546/SJ and Number 009/5545/SJ on Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Submission of Application for Official Overseas Travel Permit to all governors and regents/mayors in Indonesia.

The letters are issued in a bid to improve orderly administration and coordination of Official Overseas Travel for regional heads, regional deputy heads, speakers and members of Regional Legislative Councils (DPRD), and state apparatus working for regional governments.

The letters regulated that permit, dispensation, or concession application submitted must be given approval or refusal by the Government Institutions/Officials no later than 10 (ten) working days since the application is received unless stated otherwise specified in the provisions of laws and regulations.

In the event of the application is submitted less than 10 (ten) days before the departure, it might face a difficulty since the administration process at Ministry of State Secretariat, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Diplomatic Security Directorate of Ministry of Foreign Affairs for official travel to countries which do not have diplomatic relations with Indonesia, must be finished in limited time.

“In this regard, application for official overseas travel of regional governments shall be submitted to Ministry of Home Affairs at least 10 (ten) days before the departure,” the Minister stated. (Puspen Kemendagri/ES)
