On 55th Anniversary of Diplomatic Ties: Indonesia, Singapore to Reinforce Bilateral Cooperation

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, Tuesday (01/25), had a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong at the Sanchaya Resort Bintan, Bintan regency, Riau Islands province.

President Jokowi in his statement expressed belief that bilateral relations between the two countries will be further strengthened.

He also told his counterpart that it is an honour for Indonesia to receive a courtesy call from PM Lee and his delegates in the resort island of Bintan.

“It’s time for PM Lee and I to meet and discuss measures to enhance our bilateral cooperation. This year also marks the 55th anniversary of Indonesia-Singapore’s diplomatic relations,” the President said.

In the meantime, PM Lee also appreciated the Indonesian Government for the warm welcome.

“I am delighted to be here and meet with President Jokowi and ministers,” he said adding that the meeting is supposed to be held annually but it was postponed for two years due to the pandemic. (Presidential Secretariat/UN) (RAS/MUR)
