On Police Murder Case, President Jokowi: Find the Truth

Following the murder of Brigadier Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat, widely known as Brigadier J, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has once again ordered the investigators to thoroughly settle the case without hesitation in order to find the truth.

“I have told the investigators to thoroughly settle the case and not to hesitate. Nothing must be covered up. Find the truth,” President Jokowi told the press in Mempawah regency, West Kalimantan province, Tuesday (08/09).

The Head of State also expressed hope that public trust to the Indonesian Police will not be diminished, adding that the police’s reputation should not be compromised.

“We must not let public trust to the police diminish. This is what is most important. We should maintain the police’s reputation,” he added.

In the meantime, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung on Monday (08/08) told the press President Jokowi had ordered the investigators to thoroughly settle the case that cause the death of Brigadier J.

“President Jokowi has said [the matter] three times and the statement has been made publicly – that nothing should be covered, that we should find the truth. That is the President’s directive. The President hopes that case will be settled so the police’s reputation will not be ruined,” Pramono said.

The murder case of Brigadier J has entered a new stage. The National Police’s Head of Public Relation Division Inspector General Police Dedi Prasetyo said that the division would announce a new suspect on Tuesday (08/09). (DND/RSF/SLN/UN) (AW/HD)
