One Million Doses of Sinopharm Vaccine for Gotong Royong Vaccination Program Arrive

The Government has announced it has secured the 28th batch of COVID-19 vaccine. As many as 1,184,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine arrived at Soekarno Hatta International airport in Tangerang, Banten province, on Monday (19/07/2021). This arrival is the 5th batch of Sinopharm vaccine that is aimed to support the Gotong Royong vaccination program.

For the record, the Gotong Royong vaccination program is vaccination scheme that is provided to private and state-owned company so that they can vaccinate the employees and their family members.

According to President Director of the state-owned pharmaceutical company PT Kimia Farma Verdi Budidarmo, through the Gotong Royong vaccination program, it is targeted that 20 million doses of vaccine will be administered. Until now, he added, Indonesia has secured 5.5 million doses of Sinopharm vaccine.

“This is part of the vaccine supply contract between PT Kimia Farma and Sinopharm providing 15 million doses of Sinopharm vaccine for Gotong Royong vaccination program,” said Verdi.

Furthermore, Verdi said that the Gotong Royong vaccination program is based on the spirit of collaboration among business sectors to ease the Government’s financial burden, adding that, this program is business-funded without allocation from national budget in order to support national vaccination goal to vaccinate two million doses a day. So that, it will build communal immunity or herd immunity.

Verdi also said that Indonesia’s vaccine supply is adequate, adding that, he called on public to get vaccination in order to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.(TGH/AIT/UN) (AP/LW)
