Optimize the Mining Potential of the Country, President Jokowi Invites Mining Entrepreneurs

After meeting with the national exporters and led the limited cabinet meeting about fertilizers, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), accompanied by Vice President Jusuf Kalla lead Limited Meeting with the mining entrepreneurs, at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (15/4) evening.

“We invite the mining entrepreneur, because we want to know the problems and issues that exist at this time,” President Jokowi said when starting his speech.

On that occasion, the President lamented the decline about a number of commodity prices, including the price of mining products. However, President Jokowi wishes it had no adverse effect to increase our exports.

“Especially for the future, we will direct our industries to be able to export of semi-finished goods, and hopefully be able to export finished goods,” the President’s message.

The government, President Jokowi continued, seeing so many opportunities in the mining sector, both with regard to bauxite, nickel, alumina processing, coal, gold, tin, and others, all of a nation’s wealth should be utilized as much as possible to prosperity of the people.

Therefore, the President asked for input from the mining entrepreneurs, related to the potential and the strength our mining. “It is becoming a business policy strategy Indonesia in the future. Therefore, the roles in mining could really be in our hands,” the President said.

Attending the Limited Meeting on Mining are Coordinating Minister for Economy Sofyan Djalil, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Indroyono Susilo, Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto, Minister of Agricultural and Spatial Ferry M. Baldan, Minister of Planning/Head of Bappenas Andrinov Chaniago, Minister of SOEs Rini Soemarno, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said, Minister of Industry Saleh Husni, Chief of Presidential Staff Luhut B.
