Indonesian children have the rights to live, to have growth and development, to have protection, and to have participation, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung has said.

According to Pramono, those four rights were intended as basic needs for children to be happy, cheerful, and healthy amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“That will be the duty of the state and the family to fulfill children’s rights,” Pramono said, Thursday (23/7) during the commemoration of 2020 National Children’s Day (HAN).

Pramono went on to say that every Indonesian child must be healthy, cheerful, happy, and can have the opportunity to socialize with their friends and can also continue to play and learn.

He added that the children’s basic rights must be fulfilled amid this difficult time.

“After all, happy and well-educated children will become the base for the progress of the Indonesian nation in the future. Our children are our future,” Pramono added.

On that occasion, Pramono emphasized that all Indonesian children must not also lack the necessities of life; thus, he said, the state is obliged to look after children together with their parents and family.

“A country will become a big country if its future is determined by the children who will be our leaders in the future,” he said. (RFS / EN)
