Pancasila is a unifying ideology, according to Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung.

The evidence, according to Pramono, can be seen when terrorist attacks that hit Surabaya, Mobile Brigade Headquarter (Mako Brimob) and the city of Sidoarjo failed to weaken Indonesian people and make the people afraid.

“The tragedy has made us realize that Pancasila is a unifying ideology,” Pramono said during the commemoration of the birth of Pancasila – celebrated on 1 June every year – at his office recently. Pramono also expressed his belief that diversity and differences would make Indonesia stronger.

The Cabinet Secretary further said that Pancasila is a result of a long process of dialog that synthesized the spirit of the nation. Indonesia’s first President, President Soekarno, according to him, always says that he is not the founder of Pancasila; in fact, he synthesized the spirit of the nation and translated it into Pancasila on 1 June.

“Pancasila is a strong and unifying ideology and is now recognized by the world. Indonesia is a multicultural and multiethnic country with 17,000 islands. Pancasila is an ideology that strengthens and unites us, “Cabinet Secretary concluded. (DNA/RAH/ES) (RI/EP/Naster)
