Pandemic Situation Improves, Economy Rebounds, President Jokowi Says

In a series of West Java working visit, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Wednesday (04/13) visited Kanoman market in Cirebon city, West Java province to give Social Assistance (Bansos). The assistances distributed by the President to beneficiaries of the Family Hope Program (PKH) and street vendors are Direct Cash Assistance (BLT) for cooking oil and Working Capital Assistance (BMK) amounting to Rp1.2 million (each beneficiary).

On that occasion, President Jokowi said that COVID-19 pandemic situation in Indonesia continues to improve and vendors are able to return to  the market, adding that, he expressed his hope that the assistance given can support vendors to improve their business.

“As pandemic situation improves, the vendors now return to the market so that the assistance is needed by several vendors to improve their business. We have distributed it. It is our hope that the BLT including business capital assistance distributed by the Government can boost people’s purchasing power,” the President said.

In addition to economic rebound, President Jokowi continued that the increase in activities in centers of economy can be seen from the number of market visitors toward Eid.

“Traffic congestion happens in almost all cities. It shows that the mobility increases, economy starts to drift, economic turnover improves, especially in tourism sector,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (AP/LW)
