Participants of First Level Functional Translator Education and Training Meets Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs

Cabinet Secretariat held the 6th Class of First Level Functional Translator Education and Training starting from 28 August to 13 October 2017. The main committee that organises this training is the Assistant to the Deputy Cabinet Secretary for State Documents and Translation of the Deputy Cabinet Secretary for Cabinet Work Support.

As part of the training, the participants had a chance to visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to get lecture from the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, A. M. Fachir, as well as Director General of Protocol and Consular Affairs, Andri Hadi.

The Deputy Minister, in his lecture, extended his wishes that the Functional Translator Officers would not be trapped in the specificity of Functional Position of Translator. “Still look for opportunities to develop your profession in accordance with the need of each institution,” he said.

For the record, Deputy Minister A. M. Fachir once served as Head of Bureau for State Documents and Translation of the State Secretariat and also the Official Interpreter for the President from 2002 to 2004.

 

A Visit to ANRI

Before visiting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Participants visited the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia (ANRI) in Jakarta, Tuesday (12/9) morning.

In his remarks, the Assistant to the Deputy Cabinet Secretary for State Documents and Translation, Eko Harnowo, said that this visit is related with translation of old manuscripts or archives. “We hope that ANRI can give explanation to the participants about a number of aspects that relevant with the translation of old manuscripts or archives.”

Besides getting a lecture from the Director of National Archives Management RI Azmi, the participants also had a chance to visit the Diorama of the Nation’s History.
