The Government has urged Muslims to perform Eid prayers at home with their nuclear family amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“I appeal to Muslims to perform Eid prayers at home with your nuclear family. This is part of our empathy and commitment as religious people in handling COVID-19,” the Minister said in Jakarta, Wednesday (13/5).

“Do not forget to perform Eid prayer. Do it with your family at home in accordance with the example shown by Prophet Muhammad who never forgot to perform the prayer,” the Minister added.

Fachrul also said that Indonesian clerics, including those from Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), are expected to be able to educate the public regarding Islamic jurisprudence and the Eid prayer guidance as practiced by the Prophet’s recommendations that is better to be conducted as sunnah muakkadah.

“Let us welcome Eid al-Fitr 1441 Hijri with joy and happiness because it is the day of victory after a full month of fasting in the month of Ramadan. Let us share our concern for those who need it so that they can celebrate the victory as we all do,” Fachrul said.

“The COVID-19 pandemic should not reduce our happiness and joy in welcoming Eid. Taqobalallahu Minna Waminkum. May Allah accept my deeds and your deeds,” Fachrul added. (PR of Religious Affairs Ministry / EN)
