Pertamina Modular Hospital to Operate as COVID-19 Referral Hospital

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, Friday (6/8), inaugurated Pertamina Modular Hospital in Tanjung Duren, West Jakarta which will be operated as a referral hospital for COVID-19 patients with moderate to severe symptoms.

Built on a 4.2-hectare land, the hospital has a capacity of 305 beds consisting of beds at isolation wards, High Care Unit (HCU), and Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This hospital also provides healthcare services to women and children.

“We are aware that providing COVID-19 treatment for pregnant women, newborns, and children is really important. Therefore, this hospital is provided with women and children’s care unit, delivery room, and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit,” President Director of state-owned oil and gas giant Pertamina Nicke Widyawati said in a press statement on Friday (6/8) in Jakarta.

She went on to say that in order to provide better services for COVID-19 patients, two-thirds of the hospital’s beds are dedicated to patients in the ICU.

“This hospital is also designed with great air circulation and open space for natural sunlight. Thus, both patients and medical staff do not feel suffocated for staying at one room. The condition becomes really important since it can improve immune system of the patients,” she said.

The President Director added that the hospital is expected to improve quality of treatment for COVID-19 patients.

“With those facilities and experienced medical staff, we hope we can tackle the pandemic and return public activities as usual,” she stated.

For the record, the hospital which has been constructed since 9 July 2021 will be run by Pelni Hospital. Around 800 medical staff consisting of doctors and nurses will be ready to provide treatment to COVID-19 patients as of Friday’s afternoon (6/8). (FID/UN) (RAS/MUR)
