Phenomenal Kid Singer Farel Prayoga Performs at Independence Day Ceremony at Merdeka Palace
The 77th Commemoration Ceremony of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (08/17) featured a performance from a phenomenal kid singer Farel Prayoga.
After the presentation of national songs and a medley of folk songs by Gita Bahana Nusantara Choir and Orchestra, the public was surprised by the performance of Farel Prayoga who performed a Campursari (a blend of traditional Javanese and modern musical genre) titled “Ojo Dibandingke” (Don’t Compare).
His distinctive voice has made the invitees cheer happily for him. To the audience’s surprise, he also altered the lyrics of the song to include President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s nickname, which has successfully made the President laugh.
First Lady Ibu Iriana Jokowi, ministers, and the general public also enjoyed the rhythm and danced to the song originally sung by Denny Caknan feat. Abah Lala. Farel sang to the song twice during the ceremony.
Previously, during the rehearsal a day before, Farel had the opportunity to directly meet and converse with the President. The President told a sixth-grader Farel to study hard even though he is now famous.
“It’s good to be a singer, but don’t forget your study. Don’t forget to pursue your study to the highest level. That is my message,” the President said.
“Yes, Sir,” answered Farel who aspires to be a successful singer in the future. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (FI/MUR)
