Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto acknowledged that there is escalation in the current political situation; thus, he called on politicians to refrain from worsening the condition.

“We must prioritize good, elegant, dignified ways and refrain from using hate speech, and so on. If there are bad influences, please ignore them,” Wiranto said at the office of Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Jakarta, Monday (27/8).

Regarding the current political situation, the Coordinating Minister considers it as a usual thing because the situation like this always happens every elections time.

However, he expressed his belief that Indonesians are peace-loving people and do not like commotion. “Of course we must maintain this tradition together,” he said.

Wiranto also urged the public to be patient in following phase of 2019 election carefully and in accordance with the rules and if there is a violation, he allows it to be processed by the Elections Supervisory Body (Bawaslu).

“If there is a violation, please report it to the Bawaslu. There are ways to solve problems, not by making a fuss in the media,” Wiranto said, adding that the Government always hopes for a democratic, dignified and elegant election.

The Minister also reminded that the election is currently in the preparation phase and called on all parties to go through this phase well.
