PLN Apologizes for Power Outage in Greater Jakarta and West Java

State-owned electricity company PT PLN expressed its apology after power outage hit Greater Jakarta area and parts of West Java on Sunday (4/8). The blackout was caused by errors on Suralaya Turbine Gas 1 to 6, while Gas Turbine 7 is off. In addition, Cilegon Turbine Gas Power Plant also experienced trouble.

“We would like to extend our apology for the blackout. We are continuing to normalize (the electricity supply) and some electrical relay stations have started to operate normally,” PLN Executive Vice President Corporate Communication & CSR I Made Suprateka said in a press release on Sunday (4/8).
He went on to say that a trouble in the 500 kV high-voltage power transmission has resulted in outage in several areas in West Java, including Bandung, Bekasi, Cianjur, Cimahi, Cirebon, Garut, Karawang, Purwakarta, Majalaya, Sumedang, Tasikmalaya, Depok, Gunung Putri, Sukabumi and Bogor .
