In a bid to support President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s policy on free electricity tariffs for 450-VA household consumers and 50% discount for 900-VA subsidized household consumers, the National Electricity Company (PLN) has announced a way to obtain the program.

“For 450-VA postpaid customers, the bill for April, May, and June will immediately be waived off,” PLN Executive Vice President Corporate Communication & CSR I Made Suprateka said on a press release, Thursday (2/4).

The prepaid customers, Made added, can obtain it by sending their customer ID number to a Whatsapp account number 08122-123-123 or via the Company website at www.pln.co.id. Through this method, each customer will get a token of the highest usage value in the last 3 months.

“On the discount rate for the subsidized 900-VA postpaid customers, the monthly bill will be reduced by 50%,” Made explained.

While for the subsidized 900-VA prepaid customers, Made said, 50% off electricity tokens will be given to them, with calculations of the highest monthly usage in the last three months.

The following is a free token collection mechanism for 450-VA prepaid customers and 50% off token for subsidized 900-VA customers:

Via the PLN website:

  1. Open www.pln.co.id, then go to the customer menu and choose the COVID-19 stimulus option.
  2. Enter the customer ID/electric meter number. The free token will be displayed on the screen.
  3. Enter the free token to the meter corresponding to the customer ID.

Via Whatsapp:

  1. Open the Whatsapp application,
  2. Chat Whatsapp number 08122-123-123, follow the instructions, one of which is to enter the Customer ID.
  3. Obtain the free token.
  4. Enter the token to the meter corresponding to the customer ID.

“There are currently data of around 24 million 450-VA household customers, plus 7 million 900-VA subsidized household customers that must be entered into the system,” Made said.

This process, Made stated, will be completed next week so that all the intended customers can enjoy the service. “The process is indeed carried out in stages which began on 1 April and will be finished no later than 11 April,” Made added.

This policy, Made continued, is a form of state presence in helping the economy of the underprivileged. “This is proof that PLN and the Government are present in every condition,” Made concluded. (PR of PLN/EN)
