Political Parties Have Various Functions

The presence of organizations and mobilization of political parties in the regions are very important. This has shown us that political party is not only political recruitment for election of legislative and executive members.

This statement was enunciated by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo in his remarks when he attended 45^th anniversary of United Development Party (PPP) at University Training Center (UTC) Audience Hall, Semarang City, Saturday (14/4).

“The function of political parties includes political communication: how to communicate with the community and to articulate the society’s interest; and political dissemination. These parties disseminate noble, ethical, and civilized political values to the people,” said the President.

As a 45-year-old Islamic political party, President Jokowi showed his belief that the PPP has contributed significantly in building civilized political values in Indonesia.

The PPP acts as a representative to voice Muslims’ aspirations, and also maintains politics in Indonesia to be civilized as well as upholds religious norms and social ethics.

“I believe actions of the leaders and cadres of the PPP can be a role model for the society. They can avoid and fight against false news and hoax, continue to grow optimism and always foster harmony and unity across the country,” President Jokowi continued.

At the beginning of his remarks, President Jokowi also expressed his belief that PPP’s consolidation is very strong.

“I would like to congratulate the 45^th anniversary of United Development Party. I hope Allah SWT showers them with blessings  and I wish them success in this year’s elections and the 2019 legislative elections,” said President Jokowi.

For the record, this event was coincided with National Congress of Alim Ulama (Muslim scholars). The President said that this is a good step to show the courtesy of politics in Indonesia.

“I also appreciate the theme of this event which is Bersatu Membangun Indonesia (United to Build Indonesia),” the President added.

In his closing remarks, President Jokowi also invited PPP to remain optimistic in developing Indonesia to reach our common goal: a fair and prosperous country with strong economy.

“We must be optimistic. We must find solutions to face the obstacles because no nation becomes big and strong (economically) if we are lazy. It needs  hard work, big effort and we must pray for blessings from Allah SWT, ”President Jokowi concluded. (BPMI / EN) (STU/MMB/Naster)
