Prabowo Respects MKs Decision on Presidential Elections Result
After the Constitutional Court (MK) has rejected a lawsuit on the 2019 presidential elections result, both Presidential and Vice-Presidential Candidate pair number 01 Joko Jokowi Widodo and Maruf Amin, and Presidential and Vice-Presidential Candidate pair number 02 Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno delivered press statement in separate locations.
In his press statement at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Jakarta, Thursday (27/6) before heading to Japan to attend the G-20 Summit, Presidental Candidate Jokowi accompanied by Maruf Amin said that decision of MK is final and binding. We should respect it, he added.
He also expressed his gratitude to the General Election Commission (KPU), the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), and the Election Organization Ethics Council (DKPP) for working hard based on their respective roles in organizing a fair and square general election.
Jokowi also appreciated the Constitutional Court for ruling a decision on 2019 presidential elections dispute in fair and transparent manners. He called on all Indonesian people to unite and join hands in developing and building the country.
There is no longer number 01 and 02 (referring to the presidential candidates’ ballot number), but the united Indonesia, Jokowi firmly said.
According to him, all people must respect each other regardless their political choices. Even though we have different choices during the presidential election, the elected president is a president for the nation, for all Indonesian people.
On that occasion, Jokowi also praised Prabowo and Sandiaga Uno who showed statesmanship in accepting the result of MK ruling. Jokowi added that he shares similar vision with Prabowo and Sandiaga.
I believe in the magnanimity and statesmanship of my good friends Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno, Jokowi said.
On different occasion, Presidential and Vice-Presidential Candidate pair number 02 Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno in a press statement stated that his side will respect the decision of the Constitutional Court. (UN/RSF/SLN/AIT/RAH/ES)
