In the past four and a half years, the Government has been focusing on three aspects in developing digital economy, according to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.

“The first one is to create digital infrastructure, be it through a broadband connection or by building a Palapa Ring from Sabang until Merauke, from Miangas until Rote Island that we hope will be 100% completed in the middle of this year,” the President said during a gathering with driver partners of ride-hailing app Go-Jek in Ancol, North Jakarta, Thursday (11/4).

The second aspect, the President added, is that the Government has also been working to create an ecosystem that supports a convenient business climate for digital economy.

“The third one is that we have begun measures to improve the quality of Indonesian human resources in the digital world. Remember these three aspects that the Government has been focusing on. We also ask companies that are already advanced in digital economy such Go-Jek to support our youths to go online and to adopt digital technology,” he said.

President Jokowi also urged Indonesia’s youths, entrepreneurs, and young innovators to always create innovation.

“I believe that with optimism, we can create more unicorns in Indonesia, new startups, and new micro, small, and medium enterprises and new decacorns. Keep working and keep up the creativity for a better and more advanced Indonesia,” the President said. (HIM/EN)
