President Joko Widodo attended US-ASEAN Summit, on Monday (15/2), at 3.20 p.m. local time, at Sunnylands Center, California

President Barack Obama welcomed the Secretary General of ASEAN Le Luong Minh and ten leaders of ASEAN countries, on Monday (15/2) at 3.20 p.m. local time, at US-ASEAN Summit Entry Court, Sunnylands Center, California, US.

As the Secretary General of ASEAN, Le Luong Minh was the firs tarrived and welcomed by President Obama. Then, the President continued to welcome other ASEAN countries’ leaders. The US’ soldiers hoisted  the US and ASEAN’s flags as well as the flags of all ASEAN member countries.

After the Secretary General of ASEAN, the Vice President of Myanmar who represented the President of Myanmar Thein Sein, arrived at the location. It was followed by, alternately, the arrival of Prime Minister of Thailand Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Tun Razak, Prime Minister of Vietnam Nguyen Tan Dung, Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong, and Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Sen, the President of Indonesia Joko Widodo, the President of the Philippines Benigno S. Aquino III, the President of Laos Choummaly Sayasone, and the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Hassanal Bolkiah.

After the welcoming procession, President Obama and President of Laos Choummaly Sayasone, as the Joint Chairman of US-ASEAN Summit started the event by delivering an opening remarks. After that, the first retreat of US-ASEAN Summit featuring the theme “Promoting an Innovative, Entrepreneurial ASEAN Economic Community“ was started. (SLN/UN/EN)(MMB/YM/Naster)
